Hi Loves! Today’s post is not fashion related as it usually is, but about something near and dear to my heart. And that is why I chose to become a teacher. From the time I was a child growing up, until high school, I
knew I wanted to be doctor. I would tell anyone that asked me. My family and
friends knew and would tell others as well. Some of the most influential people to help encourage me to become a
doctor were my high school chemistry and physics teachers. They sparked a love
of learning and science and discovery inside of me. I had several amazing teachers in elementary and middle school, but I really
developed close bonds with several of my high school teachers. They were
encouraging, supportive, and showed a genuine interest in whether I was
successful academically and personally.

After I moved away for college to attend the University of Kentucky,
I stayed on the pre-med track as a Biology major and I studied hard and of
course had an amazing time! 😉 Around my third year of college, I started to
feel unhappy with my major but I stuck it out and graduated. I took a year off
of after graduating to figure out whether I wanted to apply to medical school or not. So I began substitute teaching and within months, I knew I
had found my calling. I was meant to become a teacher. I have to be honest and
tell you I never saw myself as a teacher or thought I had the patience. But I
quickly became addicted to that “light bulb moment” that pops up in a student’s
eyes when they learn something new that they will never forget. And knowing I
had helped them learn something new was one of the best feelings of fulfillment I’d ever experienced. I am currently almost finished with my Masters in
Elementary Education and I plan to teach
science and help inspire our future teachers, lawyers, doctors, nurses, and scientists!

September 6, 2013i have such respect for teachers…seriously, it's a truly amazing job! and my kids are so affected by each of the teachers in their lies. i love to watch their admiration!

September 6, 2013I am a newly certified preschool teacher! I have always wanted to be a teacher. I absolutely LOVE kids! I was always the babysitter and the one who always wanted to play "school". Teaching is just something that is in me and I couldn't imagine doing anything else and feeling this happy!

September 7, 2013I became a teacher because I absolutely LOVED the ability to mold great citizens and change the courses of lives. I started out at alternative schools, and I adored the relationships I formed with those kids.

September 9, 2013I was an educator for many years to individuals who had physical and intellectual disabilities. I also worked with young people who had emotional and behavioral disturbance as a result of extreme abuse and neglect. It was the most rewarding to help children whom others had given up on and sometimes who had given up on themselves learn that they CAN and they will. Through early intervention we (my team members and I) changed the course of lives that could have headed in a direction that yielded catastrophic results. Showing someone there is s better way despite their circumstances was the most rewarding to me! It taught me a lot about myself, my faith and life in general….I am not ab educator any more, but I still use the skills I learned to bring awareness to people as a mental health worker.
