Ultimate Weekend Away in Hamilton Co., Cincinnati!

This post was sponsored by Hamilton County Cares. All opinions expressed in this post are my own and not those of Hamilton County.

Hi Loves! Every time my husband I travel to Cincinnati, we have a different but incredible experience. This trip was about getting away and safely celebrating our 7-year wedding anniversary. We have been looking forward to our first trip away together since the pandemic and are happy that we can be responsible and still experience travel. So we played it safe and socially distant and had a blast, while having the pleasure of supporting Cincinnati-area restaurants, shops, and hotels that were ready to welcome and impress us! Hubby and I can’t wait to go back again soon because Hamilton Co. is packed with so much to do!

KINLEY HOTEL
So let’s get into our trip! In total, we stayed 2 nights and 2 days. We arrived at the Kinley Hotel Friday evening and stayed through Sunday evening and it was such a vibe! The Kinley Hotel is located in Downtown Cincy in one of the city’s favorite neighborhoods. We felt welcomed as soon as we arrived and our car was unloaded for us and then parked by valet overnight. Every detail was beautifully selected from the exterior, to the lobby, to our room. Our room was absolutely stunning! The Kinley Hotel’s claim to be a “home base for adventurers looking to foster a sincere relationship with their surroundings.” could not be truer.

CINCINNATI MUSEUM CENTER
Our first stop on Saturday morning was to the Cincinnati Museum Center. There were so many featured exhibits that caught our eye and led to some really thoughtful conversations. One of our most memorable exhibits was the Union Terminal. It is a Cincinnati icon as one of the last great American trains. We felt like big kids as we explored, everything was so beautiful and intricate.

NATIONAL UNDERGROUND RAILROAD FREEDOM CENTER
My hubby and I took our time touring the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center as it’s a museum that’s been on our list to visit and we finally had the time to soak it all in! The From Slavery to Freedom described in detail, who each slave was, where they lived, how they were treated, who their families were, and allies and to the best part of all, FREEDOM! We also participated in the many hands on activities of the ESCAPE! Freedom Seekers and the Underground Railroad exhibits.

THE BANKS
On Sunday we went to The Banks to grab some lunch and explore downtown. Yall, The  Banks is really like no other! It’s a vibrant place to eat and shop near the riverfront and downtown. The weather was perfect and we held hands and walked to lunch. There was such an exciting buzz in the area and you could feel the positive energy and the community all around. In addition to a variety of places to shop and eat, there are places to play!

Hubby and I rode Bird electric scooters down to the Riverfront Park and it was absolutely gorgeous. We whizzed by families eating outside, a beautiful outdoor wedding and students taking graduating photos. We stopped to have ice cream on the stairs by the fountains and talked while looking at the riverfront. It was breathtaking and we joked about wanting to pick up The Banks and take it home to Lexington with us.

It’s safe to say that we had a wonderful weekend away in Hamilton, Co. Cincinnati. Thank you for reading along! Have you taken a weekend getaway yet? Tell me in the comments and save this post to help you plan your next trip to Cincy!
